Our last day in CDO proved to be one of the most exciting one. It was my 2nd time to go rafting (1st time was in Davao 3 yrs ago) and I’m more than ready to do this again. We chose the advanced course 1–3 to 4 hrs actual river run, 16 mms ride, 21 rapids inclusive of photo and video plus lunch. Dangerous as it may seem, white water rafting in Cagayan de Oro is quite safe. You’ll be given a life vest, helmet and a paddle, the guides will show you the everything you need to do while on course. Just listen, enjoy and smile at the camera!
If you’re going to Cagayan de Oro, do not pass up (and I repeat DO NOT!) the chance of doing the Mapawa River Trek / Canyoneering. If you want to test your limits and patience (lol), this is for you! Don’t worry the guides/locals are all over to help you hurdle each challenge. Highlights of this trek are the 25 ft waterfall slide, group rappel in raging waters, fun waterfall slide (easy!), 35 ft freefall jump or 45 ft waterfall slide (you can choose) and last but not the least rappelling down a 65 ft waterfall. I did all but one, too chickened. We finished after 3 hrs and our bodies feels like we went to the gym for 12 hrs haha. At the end of the day, with sore muscles and some bumps and bruises, it’s all worth it! Hey, nobody says it will be easy but we conquered it!
We have lots of time after the trek as we finish quite early (o diba?). Before our hotel drop off, Our driver and guide Alfon stop by some stores so we can buy some pasalubong. Vjandep Pastel (hoard!) and Sler’s chicharon (I got a lot of their hot & spicy variety). Take note wala pang shower yan straight from Mapawa Trek haha.
Since it’s our last night in CDO, food trip to the max. Dinner at Dear Manok along Divisoria (The best ang grilled chicken!), dessert at Missy Bon Bon at Limketkai Mall (tried their Black forest and Coffee Crunch gelato, Yum!) and baby back ribs at Bigby’s plus 1 for the road for the boys. Afterwards back at Divisoria plaza for whole body massage (yes sa plaza mismo!)
