Southern Kyoto: Fushimi Inari

kyoto

Fushimi Inari Taisha is said to be the most important shrine in the entire city of Kyoto. Built to honor Inari, the shinto god of rice. Took us 2 hours of uphill walk along thousands of torii gates to the top at 233 meters above sea level. Another one hour going down. There are many street food inside and along the way so you can grab a meal before you went on your next destination. Free entrance!

If you have a lot of time, going here can easily take a day’s worth of your trip. Better get here early in the morning as it gets crowded through out the day. You will work up an appetite after so I suggest trying the street food before you leave. I promise you won’t regret it.
